The Latvia men's national football team will face Andorra today in Riga as part of the qualifying tournament for the 2026 World Cup, reports LETA.
The Group K match at the Daugava Stadium will start at 16:00 Latvian time and will be broadcast live on LTV7.
In the first two matches of the qualifying tournament in March, Latvia won against Andorra away with a score of 1:0 and lost to England 0:3, in June they drew 1:1 at home with Albania, and in September lost 0:1 at home to Serbia and away to Albania.
After the March match with Latvia, Andorra lost 0:3 away to Albania, in June lost 0:1 at home to England and 0:3 away to Serbia, and in September again lost away to England with a score of 0:2.
In September, the Andorrans also played a friendly match in Tallinn, where they drew 0:0 with the Estonia national team.
The leader of Group K in the qualifiers is England, which has earned 15 points in five matches, Albania has eight points, and Serbia has seven points in four games. The Latvian footballers have four points after five matches, while Andorra remains without any points.
In the world ranking, the Latvia national team currently ranks 137th, while Andorra is 174th.
On Tuesday, the Latvians will also play at home against the England national team.
The Latvia national team is again missing injured captain Kristers Tobers, while forward Bruno Melnis and midfielder Alvis Jaunzems were not included in the candidate list, but Ingars Pulis and Danila Patiychuk received their first call-ups to the national team.
The final tournament of the World Cup, featuring 48 teams, will take place in June and July 2026 in Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
