Janis Ikstens also believes that this political crisis should be intervened by... an accomplice in the creation of this government.

As is known, Andris Spruds decided to announce his resignation on Sunday evening, which is extremely unusual from all points of view. Firstly, on Sundays, no one usually makes any political decisions. Secondly, nothing extraordinary happened that day - as is known, the arrival of drones, which ultimately ruined Spruds' ministerial career, occurred on Thursday. Thirdly, Spruds' meeting with the Prime Minister was scheduled for Monday at 1:00 PM. What prompted the minister to make a demarche on Sunday evening?

An interesting version was proposed this evening on Latvian TV by associate professor of the University of Latvia, political scientist Janis Ikstens. "Earlier in the day, if you look at Spruds' social media, nothing indicated an intention to resign. And then suddenly... Perhaps Spruds learned that Siliņa had already found a replacement for him..." - suggested the political scientist, and this version sounds quite plausible, considering that Siliņa, announcing Spruds' dismissal on Sunday evening, immediately named his successor - Colonel Raivis Melnis. Surely the minister could have learned that the Prime Minister had already found a replacement from among his actual subordinates - Melnis had worked in Kyiv as a representative of the Ministry of Defense!

Speaking about the government crisis, the political scientist called for the president's partners in government to engage in the process of "reconciliation." Ikstens reminded that Rinkēvičs is to some extent an accomplice in this coalition, as it was formed during the process of Rinkēvičs' election as president. If it weren't for this agreement to elect Rinkēvičs, there likely wouldn't be this coalition either.
