Will the head of state intervene in the political confrontation?

"The gates of the presidential palace are open," said Edgars Rinkēvičs this morning, announcing his readiness to hold consultations with all parliamentary forces. It has now become known that tomorrow morning, the first to enter these presidential gates will be representatives of the 'Progressives' party. In their statement, they indicated that they intend to discuss with the head of state the situation in the government following the resignation of Andris Sprūds and the statements of Evika Siliņa, as well as to hold consultations on how to better protect the country's territory from drones.

It is quite possible that the president will hold meetings with all ruling forces, and possibly also with the parliamentary opposition. However, it is unlikely that Edgars Rinkēvičs will risk getting involved in the political disputes of the coalition before the parliamentary elections and attempt to resolve political disagreements. It is important for the head of state to maintain an equal distance from all major parties, keeping in mind that he himself will need to run for a second term in a year and will need to secure the support of the majority of deputies in the new Saeima.
