As reported by the capital's leadership, this year, repair work is planned at more than 200 sites.

In particular, it is planned to continue the construction of the fourth phase of the Southern Highway – the work will not be completed before 2027. The total estimated cost is 122.7 million euros.

In addition, they want to finish the repair of the Zemitāns Bridge and complete the overpass at Kundziņsala. Work will continue on the creation of bike paths from Imanta to Piņķi and from Plavnieki to the Ropaži region.

There are also plans to begin the design of the reconstruction of the Cable-Stayed Bridge and the creation of a new Altonas overpass.

They intend to continue laying double coverage on secondary streets without pavement: gravel, poured with bitumen, then more gravel, all leveled with a roller.

They plan to arrange 30 new pedestrian crossings, improve some existing ones, and also carry out work to "calm" traffic in the vicinity of schools. An additional two million euros is allocated in the budget for bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure.

By late autumn, the results will be visible. A total of 300 million euros is planned to be allocated for road works this year.

However, one should not be enchanted by the magic of numbers, as a million euros today is still not the same as a million euros in 1999, when the euro, as a currency, initially appeared in cashless transactions, replacing the European Currency Unit (ECU). Since 2002, when euro coins and banknotes were introduced, countries such as Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, and Estonia have withdrawn 1- and 2-cent coins from circulation. Their minting and operations are already more expensive than their value. The minimum physical monetary unit there became the 5-cent coin.

That is, large sums for repairs and construction are somehow not compared with cubic meters of embankments and square meters of laid asphalt. Yes, but it can still be acknowledged that a lot of transport infrastructure is planned to be built and repaired.
