Премьер-министр Эстонии Кристен Михал (слева) не дотянул до заработков латвийской коллеги.

The head of the executive power in Estonia earned €25,000 less in his position last year than his colleague from Latvia. However, his compatriots earn more than Latvians.

The Prime Minister of Estonia, Kristen Mihal, earned €107,394 for his work in 2025, according to data from the country's Ministry of Finance.

And what about Latvia? As reported by bb.lv, Prime Minister Evika Silina ("New Unity") earned €133,615 last year in her role as head of government, which is 5.3% more than in 2024, according to the declaration published by the State Revenue Service.

It is worth noting that the average salary in Estonia last year was around €2,300 per month. In Latvia, the average salary was €1,800 – all figures are before tax.

It looks strange – ordinary Latvians earn less than ordinary Estonians, yet their Prime Minister receives a higher salary than the leader of the more affluent Estonia.

However, this is by no means a unique situation. For example, the president of Cameroon, Paul Biya, earns about €550,000 a year. In contrast, the president of France, Emmanuel Macron, earns only €190,000. Although the French clearly live wealthier than the Cameroonians.
