Nekā personīga: even his party does not support the minister of economics' proposals.
As is known, even at the stage of the second reading of the new immigration bill, there was an idea to include the possibility of obtaining a residence permit through investments in real estate in the new law. The Ministry of Economics prepared corresponding proposals, which were not supported by the same commission on defense and internal affairs this week.
The TV-3 program Nekā personīga reported this evening that both the Citizenship and Migration Office and the special services, as well as even the minister of economics Viktor Valainis's (Union of Greens and Farmers) party members in the Saeima opposed the continuation of this program.
Here is how the proposals from the Ministry of Economics were commented on by the State Security Service in the Nekā personīga program:
"Conducting checks on foreigners is complicated and requires significant resources from institutions, and in many cases, it is not possible to obtain certainty about the origin of the financial resources used. Additionally, the information available about such foreigners may be limited, so all risks may not be possible to identify in a timely manner."
It can be assumed that ultimately these proposals from the minister of economics will be rejected at the Saeima plenary session. Despite the fact that, according to Valainis's plan, this would allow attracting American investors to the country.
