Washington officially denied Tehran's statements about an allegedly successful attack on a US Navy ship in the Strait of Hormuz. As reported by the Axios news agency, a senior American official called these reports inaccurate.

Earlier, the Iranian agency Fars spread information that two projectiles hit an American military ship near the island of Jask. According to Iranian claims, the vessel allegedly ignored repeated warnings about violating the territorial waters of the Islamic Republic. Tehran also announced the introduction of a 'new control zone' in the strait, threatening to strike any foreign military objects entering the waters without coordination.

However, according to Axios, the situation in the region remains under US control, and no hits on American vessels have been recorded. US administration officials emphasized that reports of the attack are part of Iran's information campaign due to the launch of the American operation 'Project Freedom', aimed at ensuring the safe passage of commercial vessels through the blocked strait. Currently, independent sources also do not confirm the fact of damage to American military ships.
