The opposition demanded urgent explanations from the Prime Minister.

The scandal involving the Prime Minister's visit to the VIP zone at Amsterdam Airport two years ago, costing over 4,000 euros, is gaining traction. In response to public information, members of the Saeima from the opposition United List demanded explanations from Evika Silina.

"The mentioned information raises serious questions about the proportionality of public spending, the decision-making process, as well as whether the use of such services aligns with the principles of good governance, transparency, and the prudent use of public finances, as well as the personal responsibility of the Prime Minister when making or accepting such decisions," the United List's request states.

The deputies have asked Prime Minister Evika Silina to provide clear and unambiguous answers to the following questions:

Is it true that the publicly stated information about you and your advisor using the VIP services at Amsterdam Airport resulted in a bill to the state of approximately 4,000 euros? If so, please clarify the specific situation (date, purpose, and circumstances of the trip).

Who made the decision to use VIP services in this case — was it your personal decision, or was it made upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister's office or other agencies?

What was the justification for using VIP services (security considerations, time savings, or other reasons)? Were alternatives without additional costs evaluated?

Do you take political responsibility in the event that it is established that the use of VIP services was not objectively necessary or proportional?
