Parliamentarians will also decide whether to extend the storage period for voting ballots.

As the Easter holidays approach, the members of the Saeima have decided to hold a plenary session tomorrow instead of Thursday, as usual. Tomorrow's agenda includes yet another initiative regarding the resignation of a minister. This time, the opposition faction 'Latvia First' is demanding the dismissal of Defense Minister Andris Sprūds for his failure to organize a timely notification system for drone arrivals. The deputies are also dissatisfied with how the minister advocates for Latvia's security and what measures he is taking to protect against drones and other aerial attacks.

Surely, this motion of no confidence against Sprūds will be rejected, as will the proposal from the same faction to extend the storage period for voting ballots to 6 months. Currently, by law, ballots are stored only until the new Saeima's powers are confirmed, which is essentially one month. The opposition believes that this is too short a period, and it only creates grounds for speculation - what are the politicians afraid of, why are they in such a hurry to dispose of the evidence?!

This time, the 'Green Farmers' within the ruling coalition will also suffer defeat - the majority of deputies intend to reject the amendment from the 'Green Farmers' to the Forest Law, which would allow the felling of younger trees. The age of trees that can be cut down is planned to be lowered by 20 years!

If until now the Saeima has rejected all opposition bills granting residents the right to choose their savings in the second pension level, now the parliament is preparing to throw a similar popular initiative, supported by over 17,000 citizens of Latvia, into the trash.
