In an interview with the program "900 Seconds" on TV3, Saeima deputy Andris Kulbergs (AS) sharply outlined the situation surrounding "airBaltic," emphasizing that the government will soon have to make an uncomfortable but clear decision. He noted that the government likely already has a scenario on the table that involves a significant financial contribution: "We will have to pull 150 million out of our pockets" for the company to continue its operations. According to Kulbergs, the authorities should explain this issue to the public openly and without illusions.

The deputy offers a simplified perspective on how the public should perceive this contribution: "We will gift the state one flight a year, in return for supporting 'airBaltic.'

This means that if the government wants to maintain the national airline as a strategic asset, it must be prepared to financially support it. At the same time, Kulbergs emphasizes that the situation is problematic, as the company is being "gifted a dowry, but there is no groom yet" — attracting an investor has still not happened.
