"It is important that they are in the border areas."
Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrova ordered several officials from the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) to travel to the border area of Latvia to personally identify the issues faced by border municipalities in the field of civil defense and assess possible solutions.
Deputy State Secretary of the MoI Janis Bekmanis went on a business trip to the Kraslava region, Director of the Department of Sectoral Policy of the MoI Gatis Shviks to the Augšdaugava region, and Senior Expert of the Department of Sectoral Policy of the MoI Maigurs Ludbaržs to the Ludza region.
"I consider it important that those responsible for civil defense in the country are present in the border municipalities of Latgale. This is crucial for better understanding and coordinating work with the municipalities that are most exposed to potential aerial threats. Such business trips should be regular, involving officials at all levels whose responsibilities include civil defense planning," noted Minister of the Interior Janis Dombrova.
After the completion of the business trip, the minister plans to hear the conclusions of the staff and discuss further possible solutions.
