The battle for housing assistance.
Shock over Latvia: Latvians have already received their heating bills for January and are reaching for validol. While the government is still discussing options for supporting the population, opposition deputies from the National Alliance have submitted a draft amendment to the Social Assistance Law to the Saeima. The amendments provide for an increase in the coefficient, which will allow not only low-income pensioners and disabled individuals but also families with children to qualify for housing assistance.
