The chairman of the Rezekne City Council Alexander Bartashevich ("Together for Latvia"/LPM) did not receive access to state secrets, as evidenced by information provided by the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development (MURRD).
The Minister of Smart Governance and Regional Development Raimonds Chudars ("New Unity") demanded the resignation of Bartashevich.
As noted by the Ministry of Smart Governance and Regional Development (MURRD), this decision was made based on information provided by the Security Police (SP) regarding the refusal to grant the chairman of the Rezekne City Council a special access to state secrets.
If Bartashevich does not agree to resign, he must provide the minister with a written explanation within five working days, after which the minister will make a decision on further steps.
