Hot debates on international affairs continue in the Saeima.
As expected, today during the parliamentary debates on foreign policy, supporters of U.S. President Trump clashed with those who sympathize with various leftist movements and Palestine.
Linda Liepiņa, a member of the clearly pro-Trump opposition faction "Latvia First," stated that Latvia needs to create a government that supports the current American administration. She was highly critical of the current government and especially of the "progressives," who clearly do not support the White House's policies and, according to Liepiņa, their actions do not contribute to strengthening the security and defense of Latvia: "And should I explain to you how much Latvia's defense depends on the U.S.? Does active opposition to the peaceful efforts of the U.S. President contribute to the security and defense of Latvia? Do the fluttering flags of Palestine and sympathies for Hamas contribute to the security and defense of Latvia?!" - declared Deputy Liepiņa from the podium.
Notably, Liepiņa's words were indirectly confirmed by Saeima member from the "Progressives" party Selma Levrence, who reiterated the leftist narrative about "genocide in Palestine" from the Saeima podium.
It should be noted that the debates on foreign policy have been ongoing for more than 6 hours. It can be predicted that the debates will conclude late in the evening.
