A delegation from the Latvian parliament, led by Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mierina, has arrived in Kyiv, the Saeima's press service reported.
Mierina noted that during the coldest months of the year, the people of Ukraine continue to endure severe attacks from the aggressor, with thousands left without electricity, water, and heat.
"It is unacceptable for news about Ukraine to remain in the background in Europe," emphasized Mierina, stating that every visit by international leaders to Ukraine serves as a testament that Ukrainians will not be left alone and that everything will be done to achieve a just peace.
The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Saeima, also includes Deputy Speaker Antonina Nenashaeva, Chair of the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee Inara Murniece, Chair of the Defense, Internal Affairs, and Corruption Prevention Committee Raimonds Bergmanis, Head of the Saeima Group for Promoting Cooperation with the Parliament of Ukraine Janis Skrastins, as well as group member Linda Liepina.
The Saeima delegation will meet in Kyiv with senior officials of the country to reaffirm their support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, and every January, the Saeima delegation visits Ukraine.
