On Friday, about 30 people gathered at the protest "Hands Off Venezuela" held near the Riga Castle, reported the LETA agency.
Participants of the protest came with flags of Venezuela, Latvia, the European Union, and Ukraine.
The gathered chanted various slogans, such as: "Hands off Venezuela!", "President, get it together, remember your role!", "The U.S. colonizes, Europe ignores!".
In the hands of the protesters were placards with inscriptions: "No Maduro, no Trump!", "Where is international law?", "Who will be next? Colombia? Greenland?".
The LETA agency also noted that people with U.S. and Latvian flags were observing the protesters nearby.
Security at the protest site was provided by law enforcement officers.
The protest was organized by the public center Maiznīca, with informational support from youth organizations Protests and Jaunie Eiropas federālisti.
The organizers previously stated that the protest is held to condemn "the imperialist aggression of the U.S. against Venezuela and to call on the Latvian government to apply international law equally to all.".
They noted that they consistently condemn the systematic violations of human rights and the undermining of democracy by the regime of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, but at the same time believe that these crimes do not justify "gross violations of international law by NATO countries, including military actions and detentions without appropriate international mandates.".
It was previously reported that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were kidnapped during a U.S. military operation on Saturday and taken to New York.
