The daughters of Lavrov and an FSB general, as well as Putin's envoy, have been added to Latvia's blacklist

Today, the long list of people banned from entering the Republic of Latvia was updated.

“I have decided to include 3 citizens of the Russian Federation in the list of undesirable persons (persona non grata) of the Republic of Latvia and to prohibit Mikhail Shvydkoy, Anastasia Karneeva, and Ekaterina Vinokurova from entering for an indefinite period in accordance with paragraph 61.2 of the Immigration Law of Latvia,” wrote Latvia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže.

Who are these people?

Mikhail Efimovich Shvydkoy — a well-known Russian figure, art historian, and television presenter. He currently serves as the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for international cultural cooperation. He was the Minister of Culture of Russia (2000–2004) and the head of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography (2004–2008). From 1998 to 2000, he headed VGTRK.

Anastasia Karneeva — the new commissioner of the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Recall that the EU deprived the Biennale of funding amounting to two million euros for allowing Russia to open its pavilion there.

Anastasia Karneeva is not an ordinary person in Russia — she is the daughter of the deputy general director of Rostec and retired FSB general Nikolai Volobuev.

There is some confusion with the Vinokurovas. There are at least two ladies with the same names and surnames who might not be liked by Baiba Braže:

Ekaterina Sergeevna Vinokurova (born 1982): daughter of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, has a business in the art sector, director of the Russian branch of Christie's, co-founder of the company Smart Art.

Ekaterina Vladimirovna Vinokurova (born 1985): a Russian journalist, political commentator, former member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation (HRC), known for her questions at Vladimir Putin's press conferences.
