President Edgars Rinkēvičs may proclaim the state budget for 2026 as early as next week, the president announced at a press conference on Wednesday following a meeting with Prime Minister Evika Siliņa.
The President said that after receiving the complete package from the parliament, with one exception - the law on increasing the toll for truck passage, which he submitted to the parliament for a second reading, the budget and accompanying documents may be proclaimed next week.
It has already been reported that on December 4, the Saeima adopted the state budget for the next year in its final reading, with revenues amounting to 16.1 billion euros, expenditures of 17.9 billion euros, and a budget deficit of 3.3% of the gross domestic product (GDP). Fifty-two deputies voted in favor of the budget, while forty-two voted against.
