The incident occurred on a weekday evening in one of the private houses in the Carnikava municipality. The conflict involved two brothers and their elderly relatives — grandmother and grandfather.

When the municipal police arrived at the scene, the situation was already tense. According to eyewitnesses, the man was behaving aggressively and threatened family members with a knife.

“He has completely lost his mind,” was heard upon their arrival.

During the quarrel, threats escalated into actions — one of the relatives sustained a hand injury. The police had to respond immediately.

The head of the municipal police of the Adazi region, Oskars Feldmanis, stated that the man did not comply with the initial demands of law enforcement.

“Since he did not respond to the remarks, pepper spray, handcuffs, and special techniques were used, after which the aggressor was detained,” he explained to the program Degpunktā (TV3).

After the detention, officers of the State Police and medics were called to the scene.

Relatives reported that similar outbursts of aggression had occurred before. That is why this time one of the brothers decided to contact law enforcement with an official statement. According to the family, the reason for the appeal was the desire to protect the elderly relatives from further threats and possible violence.

After the detention, the man continued to argue emotionally with the service employees and discuss the processing of the necessary documents. In the end, he was issued all the legally required documents from both the police and the medics.

Such cases show that domestic conflicts, especially those accompanied by alcohol abuse and aggression, can quickly escalate into a threat to the life and health of family members.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the police, it was possible this time to avoid more serious consequences.
