As a result of changes in the public media LSM, which involve the cessation of broadcasting in Russian, employment relationships will be terminated with 36 employees of the media company, LETA was informed by the head of corporate communications at LSM, Raina Anna Lochmele.
Structural changes, including the closure of Latvian Radio 4 and changes in Russian-language content at LSM, are part of the implementation of the strategy. "This strategy involves the consolidation of functions, reduction of duplication, effective use of resources, and a unified content creation model in all languages," explained Lochmele.
LSM retained 28 positions for employees who previously worked on creating content in Russian: 19 are related to the content of the Russian-language section of the lsm.lv portal, eight are involved in creating multimedia content, and one is focused on creating content in Ukrainian.
The Russian-language content of LSM will be exclusively digital. The lsm.lv portal will provide essential information in foreign languages, including English, Ukrainian, and Russian. It is planned that about 70% of the materials will be adaptations from Latvian, 25% will consist of original content and audiovisual formats, and 5% will be comments and opinions on current societal processes.
Particular attention will be paid to original materials on cultural and historical topics.
