Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Prime Minister Evika Silina in Latvia: they discussed how to defeat Russia.
On Wednesday, November 5, Shmyhal told the Prime Minister of Latvia that Ukraine is ready to share its experience and resources with partners to strengthen Europe's defense and counter hybrid attacks.
They also discussed increasing sanctions pressure on Russia. "The imposed restrictions are already yielding results. We must continue to work in this direction," he added.
For her part, Silina promised to finance Ukraine. "Next year, we plan to allocate 0.25% of Latvia's gross domestic product for military assistance to Ukraine," Silina confirmed. 0.25% of GDP is about 10 million euros. It is worth noting that Ukraine's budget for the next year is short by about 70 billion euros.
The Prime Minister of Latvia also stated that Latvia is learning from Ukraine how to effectively fight Russia. She emphasized that "the people of Ukraine demonstrate incredible strength, courage, and faith in freedom every day — values that unite us as well."
Tomorrow, Shmyhal will visit the military base in Adazi, where Latvian and foreign troops are stationed.
