At the beginning of this year, 674,767 residents of Latvia were married - over the course of a year, the number has decreased by almost one percent.
At the beginning of this year, there were 674,767 residents in Latvia who were married, which is a 1% decrease compared to the beginning of 2024, according to data from the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB).
There were 790,944 residents who were not married - this is 0.8% less than at the beginning of last year. There were 236,613 divorced residents, and another 149,998 people were widows or widowers. Data on the marital status of 4,160 residents was not available.
According to CSB data, at the beginning of this year, there were more unmarried men than unmarried women, with 417,557 and 373,387 respectively. There were 332,611 married men and 342,156 married women.
At the beginning of this year, there were 86,620 divorced men and 149,993 divorced women. At the same time, there were 5.7 times more widows than widowers - at the beginning of 2025, Latvia had 22,311 widowers and 127,687 widows.
