The company "INTRAD" announced the recall of CHRISTOPEIT SPORT Beauty Bells 2 × 1 kg dumbbells due to identified violations of safety requirements, reports the Consumer Rights Protection Center.
The model in question has the article number CH1870 and barcode 4044163018706. During the inspection, specialists found that the phthalate content in the black polymer coating of the dumbbells exceeds the permissible limits established in the EU.
Phthalates are used to make plastics flexible; however, some of these substances can negatively affect human health. With prolonged contact, they can enter the body through the skin or respiratory tract. Specialists link certain types of phthalates to hormonal imbalances, reproductive health issues, risks for child development, as well as allergic reactions and skin irritation.
The dangerous product was sold both in sporting goods stores and through online platforms.
