The end of the week in Latvia promises more pleasant weather. After rains and thunderstorms on Thursday, the weekend will be drier, sunnier, and noticeably warmer.
After unstable and rainy weather, a more comfortable weekend is expected in Latvia. According to current forecasts, there will be less precipitation over the weekend, and the sun will appear more often.
Thursday is likely to be the rainiest day of the week. Rain will fall in many areas of the country, and thunderstorms are expected in the east. In some coastal areas, fog is possible in the morning and evening.
Temperatures on Thursday will vary significantly by region — from +12 degrees by the sea to +20…+24 in the central part of Kurzeme and in the east of the country.
On Friday, the weather will begin to gradually improve. Precipitation will remain only in some places and will be brief. With a moderate west wind, the air will warm up to +17…+20 degrees, although it will still be cooler along the coast.
Saturday may be the most pleasant day of the weekend. According to forecasts, significant precipitation is not expected, and in some places, temperatures will rise to +24 degrees. For the second half of May, this is already almost summer temperatures.
Importantly, nights remain quite cool, but temperatures no longer drop below +5 degrees. This means that the risk of night frosts is gradually diminishing.
On Sunday, the weather will again become less stable. Brief rains and stronger west or northwest winds are possible. As a result, temperatures will drop slightly.
Meteorologists also note that the next week may bring a noticeable contrast in weather conditions across Europe. While Western Europe is expected to experience a heatwave, colder air from the Arctic may start to flow into the Baltic countries.
As a result, sharp temperature fluctuations and changeable weather are likely in the region even at the end of May.
