Posthumous Award for Igor Zolotovitsky: The Actor's Son Delivered an Emotional Speech

The son of the late actor Igor Zolotovitsky, Alexey, moved the audience with an emotional speech during the award ceremony for his role as the gypsy baron in the series 'Shakespeare Street.' He admitted that it is still difficult for the family to receive awards in place of their father, who passed away in January 2026 after battling stomach cancer.

“Thank you very much, I am the son of this actor. I feel strange right now because we are here to receive my dad's awards. In fact, I think one could write a scientific paper titled 'The Image of the Gypsy People in the Roles of Igor Zolotovitsky.' Just so you understand, at our dacha in the gazebo, there is not a family photo, but a photo of my dad in a gypsy costume with some actors who played his children. But really, thank you to all the creators of this film. Thank you for remembering my dad. It was really important to him to have the attention of his colleagues and to see how he looked in the movies. My dad received his 13th award,” said Alexey Zolotovitsky.

The series 'Shakespeare Street' premiered in March 2025 and told the story of Moscow lawyer Mikhail (Dmitry Chebotarev), who returns to his native camp to save his daughter. Igor Zolotovitsky played the role of the gypsy baron Chervonya in the project, which became one of his last film works. On January 14, 2026, the artist passed away from stomach cancer, diagnosed six months prior.

In the opinion of the editorial team, such moments remind us how important recognition from colleagues and viewers remains for actors. Igor Zolotovitsky's last role in 'Shakespeare Street' became not only a significant work in his career but also a touching memory of the artist for his family and fans.
