On Tuesday, Latvia will face a noticeable temperature contrast between the regions of the country.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, in Latgale and the eastern part of Vidzeme, the air will warm up to +20…+24 degrees, while in Kurzeme, the temperature will remain at +11…+14 degrees.
In fact, the difference between the warmest and coolest areas of the country may exceed ten degrees.
The day is expected to be sunnier in the eastern part of the country, so it will feel almost like summer there.
In other regions, the sky will often be overcast, with light rain possible in some places.
The wind will remain weak to moderate, predominantly from the south and west.
In Riga, no significant warming is expected yet.
The capital will be covered by cloudy weather, with light rain possible at times, and the air temperature will be around +15 degrees.
It will feel even cooler by the sea.
Such a temperature difference between regions in May is not uncommon for Latvia; however, against the backdrop of recent cool weather, the warming in the eastern part of the country will be particularly noticeable.
For the residents of Latgale and Vidzeme, this may become one of the warmest days in recent weeks.
Meteorologists explain the weather situation as being influenced by a small cyclone that continues to determine atmospheric processes over the region.
The atmospheric pressure will be 1009–1012 hectopascals.
Although summer has not fully arrived in Latvia yet, the eastern part of the country will feel its approach for several hours.
