Today, significant traffic restrictions have been introduced in the capital during the Riga Marathon, reported the external communications department of the Riga City Council.
At different times, traffic will be restricted or completely closed on the bridges over the Daugava, in the city center, and its surroundings. Streets will be opened for traffic promptly after the last runners complete the distance.
Residents and drivers can familiarize themselves with the detailed schedule of closures and openings of marathon route sections on the traffic restriction map during the Riga Marathon.
The company "Rīgas satiksme" reports that significant delays in public transport are possible today. Changes to public transport routes will be in effect from the start of operations early in the morning until the end of the races, approximately at 17:20.
Shortly before the start of each distance and for about 20 minutes after the start, the movement of buses, trolleybuses, and trams will be completely halted on the November 11th waterfront near the Stone Bridge, on the Stone Bridge itself, and on Uzvaras Boulevard up to the Rānķa dambis.
All buses and trolleybuses traveling towards Pardaugava over the Stone Bridge will follow the tram tracks and stop at the tram stop "National Library" from 6:55 to 16:30.
During the race starts, traffic over the Stone Bridge will be closed.
