Is that not enough? Is Jūrmala planning to raise the entrance fee again?

There are no plans to raise the entrance fee to Jūrmala this year, said the executive director of the municipality, Edgars Stobovs, at a council meeting on Thursday.

There are no plans to raise the entrance fee to Jūrmala this year, said the executive director of the municipality, Edgars Stobovs, at a council meeting on Thursday.

While approving the municipality's report for 2025, opposition deputy Uldis Kronblūms referred to the document, which stated that last year a decision was made to increase the fee to five euros, justifying it by the need to balance the budget's income with expenses. He asked whether a fee increase is planned for this year as well.

In response to the deputy's question, Stobovs stated that the current financial situation of the municipality is stable, so a fee increase is not planned.

For the issuance of entrance permits in the first two months of the year, when the new price was in effect, the municipality collected 1,128,235 euros.

In January and February 2026, clients who were granted permits with exemptions or discounts accounted for 23% of the total number.

This year, the entrance fee to Jūrmala increased from three to five euros.

The council leadership cited the decrease in traffic intensity as the main argument for the price increase. The opposition opposed the changes, suggesting that the price increase could negatively affect the influx of tourists, which, in turn, would adversely impact local entrepreneurs.
