In the past year, 43% of respondents took vitamin D, and 26% took magnesium, according to the latest "Health Index" from "Mana Aptieka & Apotheka."
Another 20% of respondents indicated that they had taken vitamin and mineral complexes in the past year. Overall, vitamins and dietary supplements are more commonly used by women, people with higher education, and those who lead a healthy lifestyle, according to the survey data.
Among women, 56% took vitamin D, among people with higher education — 54%, and in the group of those who adhere to a healthy lifestyle — 49%.
As for magnesium, one in four residents of Latvia — 26% — took it in the past year. It is more commonly used by women, people with higher education, and residents over 65 years old. Among women, this figure is 35%, among people with higher education — 33%, and among seniors over 65 — 32%.
Every fifth respondent — 20% — takes vitamin and mineral complexes. Here, too, it is most often women and people with higher education — in both groups, 25% of respondents take these supplements.
