The traditional festival "Flying Fish in Kuldiga '26", dedicated to the fish jumping over the widest waterfall in Europe — Venta's Rumba, will take place on April 25, the municipality informed the LETA agency, writes LETA.
The day will start at 8:00 with open fishing competitions "Kuldīgas Vimbledon ’26", and from 11:00 to 16:00, musical programs will be held in the City Garden featuring Andžejs Grauda's drumming school and the band "Smalkais stils", musicians Lauris Valters and Miks Dukurs, while performances by Suitian bagpipers will take place by the waterfall.
There will be opportunities for boat trips on the Venta River, discussions, contests, and the announcement of fishing competition results.
The Kuldiga Regional Museum will offer workshops on silk screening and creating large-format paintings, as well as special photo zones.
From 11:00 to 16:00, a spring fair will be held on Kalna, Rumbas, Diky, Skolas, Baznicas, and Pilss streets.
Throughout the day, visitors can watch the preparation of fish dishes and participate in tastings with chefs Aigars Silis and Aris Zanders.
The children's area in the City Garden will feature a spinning house, a train, creative workshops, face painting, soap bubbles, and pony rides. Throughout the day, there will be performances by an illusionist and science shows from the "Vizium" science center from Ventspils.
The event is organized by the Kuldiga Tourism Development Center in collaboration with the municipality, the museum, and local entrepreneurs.
