Nine more cases of salmonellosis have been registered in two kindergartens in Riga, reports the Disease Prevention and Control Center (DPCC).
A total of 129 cases of salmonellosis have been registered in this outbreak. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.
According to the Food and Veterinary Service (FVS), salmonella has not yet been detected in samples of food raw materials and swabs from the Riga preschool educational institution "Sprīdītis" and the 215th preschool institution.
Samples of eggs, pork, poultry meat, and fish products, as well as swabs from various surfaces, were sent for laboratory testing. The samples tested so far meet safety criteria.
At the same time, the laboratory is still awaiting the results of the fish product investigation.
The FVS has initiated administrative proceedings to assess the responsibility of the catering enterprise.
