For those for whom social security contributions were paid after the appointment of an old-age pension or a disability pension of groups I and II, the State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) will automatically recalculate the pension from April 1.
The automatic pension recalculation will be conducted if at least 12 months have passed since the last recalculation or if 12 months have passed since the pension was granted. This period is counted from the first day of the month following the date of pension appointment. The recalculation will take into account the social security contributions available to VSAA at the time of recalculation. The pension recalculation will be conducted annually on April 1.
If a pension recipient wants their pension to be automatically recalculated on a different date in the future, they must submit a request to VSAA, specifying from the first day of which month the recalculation should be conducted automatically.
VSAA explains that changing the month of automatic pension recalculation is beneficial if a person wants the recalculation to occur after their birthday, as this may affect the pension amount after recalculation.
Changing the month of automatic recalculation may also be important if on April 1, 2026, less than 12 months have passed since the last pension recalculation, and a person wishes to conduct a new recalculation before April 1, 2027.
