The LLC 'Austrumlatvijas koncertzāle', managing the Latgale Embassy 'Gors', finished 2025 with a profit of 88,600 euros contrary to the audit predictions, the company reported to the LETA agency.
Hosting 130 performing arts events and attracting 130,000 visitors, the Latgale Embassy 'Gors' achieved one of its highest performance indicators in the last five years in 2025. The capital company 'Austrumlatvijas koncertzāle', which operates the concert hall, also ended the past year with a profit of 88,600 euros, significantly different from the projected losses of 70,000 to 80,000 euros ordered by the city council audit.
"It should be noted that cultural institutions like 'Gors' have a distinctly seasonal nature, and mid-year profit indicators are difficult to predict. The enterprise indicated this to the auditors commissioned by the city council, who initially forecasted losses for the concert hall of 70,000 to 80,000 euros," noted Ilona Rupaine, a board member of the concert hall.
The concert hall emphasizes that events last year around the Latgale Embassy 'Gors' influenced people to become even more active in attending events and using other services of the concert hall — visiting the cinema, the restaurant, thereby expressing support for its activities.
As reported, considering the still fruitless discussions with the local government, the government has decided that the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Smart Management and Regional Development will jointly develop a draft law to ensure state participation in the Rezekne concert hall 'Gors'.
During the development of the draft law, it will be specified to what extent the concert hall can belong to the state. Such a draft law is to be prepared during February.
