As "objects of duty," to which the income from road vignettes will be directed, this year state highways are mentioned.
Optimistically, the collectors of the road tax from heavy vehicles intend to obtain 59 million euros, which will go towards the following roads:

A6 – Riga-Daugavpils-Kraslava-Paternieki (border with Belarus), for the restoration of a 20-km section from Nitzgale to Daugavpils; as well as the reconstruction of a 6-km section near Ikšķile.

A2 – Riga-Sigulda-Veclaicene (border with Estonia), restoration of a 16.5-km section from Grundzāle to Dārziems;

A14 – Daugavpils bypass road, reconstruction of a 7-km section from Svēte to the intersection with the A6 road;
-
P80 – restoration of a 48-km section from Tīnūži to Koknese;
In total, we get 97.5 km of restored or reconstructed roads in a year. Quite good – more than from Riga to Cēsis.
However, as recent data indicates, the cost of reconstructing 1 km of existing roads or constructing new ones with two lanes can reach 10 million euros per kilometer, considering barriers and noise protection, although specific figures depend on the type of road (motorway, rural road) and the complexity of the project.
Therefore, the actual budget for the aforementioned works would have to reach... 1 billion euros! Where such money will come from is unclear.
