Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar has landed one of the lead roles in the film "Thud." In the new film directed by Mali Elfman, the actress will portray the character of Death.
The project is described as a supernatural romantic story with elements of dark comedy. Gellar will be joined on set by Rudy Pankow, known for the series "Outer Banks." He will play the role of the Reaper.
The plot of the film revolves around an unusual encounter at a three-day wedding celebration in an exotic location. The Reaper and the Devil arrive at the celebration, each with their own plans to disrupt the festivities and create chaos. However, unexpectedly, a mutual attraction develops between the characters, changing the course of events.
The screenplay for the film was written by Noga Pnueli. Her works have made it onto the famous Hollywood "Black List" twice, which annually includes the best unproduced film projects.
Filming for "Thud" will take place in Los Angeles, with the premiere scheduled for 2027. The production team includes Derek Bische, David Grove Churchill Wist, as well as representatives from Helmstreet Productions, Divide/Conquer, and Radio Silence, who have worked on a number of successful genre projects in recent years.
