The Strongest Element is Approaching Latvia - Meteorologists' Warning

On Friday evening in Latgale and Selia, and on Saturday also in other regions of Latvia, snowfalls and blizzards are expected, with heavy snowfall in places, meteorologists forecast.

In Latgale and Selia, heavy snowfall is forecasted in the next 12 hours, and on Saturday, intense snow will occur in places in the central and western regions of the country.

At night, a northern, northeastern wind will persist with gusts of 11-16 meters per second, reaching up to 22 meters per second along the coast. During the day, wind gusts will decrease to 8-13 meters per second, with windier weather remaining in the Ventspils, Talsi, and Tukums regions, where gusts along the coast may reach 19 meters per second.

Air temperatures at night and in the morning will range from -3 to -7 degrees in Kurzeme to -7 to -12 degrees in the rest of the country. During the day, temperatures will rise only by one or two degrees.

In Riga on Saturday, snow is expected at times, with blizzards near the sea. A moderate northern, northeastern wind will blow, with gusts at night in the northern part of the capital and in Jūrmala reaching 19 meters per second. Air temperatures will range from -8 degrees at night to -6 degrees during the day.
