The Jūrmala Port Authority will acquire dredging equipment to ensure works for deepening the Lielupe estuary, as stipulated by the city council's decision, reports LETA.
The deputies of the city council decided to support the participation of the Jūrmala Port Authority in the open competition for project applications of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) with the project "Acquisition of Dredging Equipment to Ensure Dredging Works in the Lielupe Estuary." The goal of the project is to promote the sustainable development of the Jūrmala port by ensuring safe navigation in the shipping channel of the Lielupe estuary.
As part of the project implementation, it is planned to acquire dredging equipment for conducting works in the Lielupe estuary, thereby improving public infrastructure for safe navigation.
The project implementation is scheduled from March 1, 2026, to February 29, 2027.
The total estimated costs for the project implementation amount to 750,000 euros, of which the EMFF funding for covering eligible expenses is 503,807 euros, and the co-financing from the Jūrmala Port Authority is 55,979 euros.
