Due to the influenza epidemic, hospitals are introducing restrictions on patient visits, according to statements from medical institutions.

Starting today, due to the declared influenza epidemic in the country, a quarantine has been announced at Daugavpils Hospital, the Daugavpils Regional Hospital reported to the LETA agency.

Visitation restrictions during the quarantine are being implemented to protect patients and hospital staff from the risks of infection. Patient visits are allowed only with the consent of the attending physician. Deliveries for patients are accepted daily, including on weekends, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Anyone entering the hospital is required to wear medical face masks and shoe covers, the hospital emphasized.

Additionally, the Traumatology and Orthopedics Hospital has also introduced a quarantine regime due to the declared influenza epidemic starting today, the hospital reported to the LETA agency.

Patient visits in the wards have been suspended. Exceptions are made only in cases where the patient's health condition is severe or critical, and visitation is permitted by the attending or on-duty physician.

Deliveries intended for patients can be handed over to the ward staff.

Furthermore, the hospital will not be accepting scheduled patients with symptoms of influenza or acute respiratory viral infections for the time being. As previously reported, the Center for Disease Prevention and Control announced the start of the influenza epidemic on Tuesday, December 9, based on influenza monitoring data provided by the National Microbiological Reference Laboratory.
