Riga resident Davis Denis bought an apartment on Maza Lubanas Street about a year ago and was soon elected as the so-called house elder. Realizing that caring for the property does not end at the door of his own apartment, the young and energetic man diligently began his duties, reports the Bez Tabu program (TV3).
It turned out that one of the chimneys in the house plays an important role — fireplaces or heating stoves are used in some apartments. Soon, Davis Denis discovered that a cable belonging to the operator Bite was laid through this chimney.
After contacting the company, a response was received only two months later. In other words, the operator insisted that the cable was laid in the chimney legally.
Certified chimney sweep Oskar Rudzis has seen many strange cases in his practice, including wires in chimneys. However, he emphasizes that such actions contradict regulatory requirements.
Any foreign object in a chimney poses a threat. That is why there are rules prohibiting such interventions.
The company Bite Latvija, for its part, claims that the specific cable was installed back in 1987, and at that time the rules allowed it. The operator is willing to relocate the cable, but this will require a new project.
