Those associated with the Society Integration Foundation (SIF) protested against the repeal of the Istanbul Convention at the Saeima, reports vigilant observer Bens Latkovskis from Neatkarīgā.
This organization, by the way, "formally does not support the introduction of bilingualism in the state, but the guiding lines of the SIF do not contain provisions for cohesion based on the state language," writes the publicist.
"Revisiting the main provisions of the SIF, all of them are permeated with the main idea – diversity. The primary focus is directed at this one thing. Everything else is secondary. Families should be different, people should be different, with different skin colors, religious affiliations, and sexual orientations. Less publicized, but also supported and encouraged, are the diversity of everyday cultural traditions and the resulting variety of languages.
The unofficial flag of the SIF may be precisely the one that waved at the aforementioned picket – one side red-white-red and the other side a colorful LGBTQ+ brand. Does such a 'flag' contribute to cohesion in 2025? Especially if it is boldly waved by the head of the interests protection department of the 'Marta Center', Beate Jonite, with a Dior bag worth 3,150 euros on her shoulder," writes Latkovskis.
