Panic when measuring blood pressure leads to inflated results.
Cardiologist Tamaz Gagloshvili warned that three mistakes that many make when measuring blood pressure can lead to inflated results. He expressed this in his Telegram channel.
According to Gagloshvili, the first mistake is measuring blood pressure in a state of panic, for example, when a person suddenly has a headache. "If you see 150, you get scared, and the pressure jumps to 170 out of fear. Remember: most often, blood pressure rises due to pain or stress, not the other way around," the doctor emphasized.
He named the second mistake as measuring blood pressure with crossed legs or while talking to someone. The doctor noted that as a result of these mistakes, the sphygmomanometer will show an extra 10-15 units. In conclusion, the doctor urged to apply the cuff only to bare skin, not over clothing or rolled-up sleeves.
Earlier, cardiologist Natalia Solovyova shared which foods should be included in the diet to strengthen heart health. To this end, she recommended eating mackerel and salmon more often.
