Skinner: partners of the same age have a better chance of a long life together.
The ideal age difference between partners is between zero and three years, according to psychologist and psychotherapist Eloise Skinner. She discussed the advantages of relationships with peers with Metro.
"According to research, a small age difference is likely to lead to longer relationships," Skinner said. She explained that peers are at similar life stages and have comparable attitudes towards spending, saving, and investing.
Skinner added that in such relationships, people are more likely to match each other in physical capabilities and engage in similar activities on weekends, share childcare responsibilities, and even have the same travel goals. The specialist referred to studies showing that relationship satisfaction decreases over time for couples with a significant age difference.
However, there are exceptions, and it all depends on upbringing and culture, as well as the goals of both partners.
