Dermatologist Radina: using hair conditioner can lead to acne.
Dermatologist Kristina Radina stated that using hair conditioner can lead to the appearance of acne on the back.
Radina noted that hair care products themselves do not cause breakouts, as acne is primarily related to hormonal and genetic factors. However, in the presence of predisposition, mistakes in care can exacerbate the problem and provoke inflammation on the skin.
The expert explained that conditioners and balms create a protective film on the hair due to silicones, oils, and waxes. When the product is rinsed off, its residues can end up on the skin, mixing with sebum and dead skin cells. This can lead to clogged pores and create conditions for bacterial growth.
"When conditioner gets on the skin of the back and remains there, it can create an occlusive film," Radina noted. To reduce the risk of acne, the doctor advised thoroughly rinsing off products and applying them in a way that prevents them from running onto the body.
