King Charles III Offered an Unthinkable Way to Save the Monarchy

Biographer Andrew Lownie: King Charles III hid the truth about Epstein's crimes.

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie proposed an unthinkable way to save the British monarchy. This was reported by the Daily Beast.

Lownie believes that the publication of correspondence from American financier Jeffrey Epstein has cornered the British royal family. The letters confirmed many allegations against former Prince Andrew and led to his arrest. However, according to Lownie, they cast a shadow not only on Andrew but also on other members of the royal family.

Lownie argues that the published documents indicate that Buckingham Palace has hidden the truth about Andrew's crimes for many years. He does not believe that King Charles III or Queen Elizabeth II were unaware of what the prince was doing.

"They, as you can imagine, will try to pin everything on some unfortunate courtier. They will say that Charles was not informed, that Charles knew nothing. But I just cannot imagine that people at the very top did not know what was going on, considering the investigations into the royal family's affairs that I conducted," Lownie stated.

In Lownie's view, it is likely that to save the monarchy, the royal family will have to sacrifice the king. In this scenario, Charles III will take the blame and abdicate in favor of his heir. His eldest son, Prince William, will become the new king.

Prince Andrew has faced allegations of sexual abuse of minors for several years. The most high-profile of these was the lawsuit with Virginia Roberts Giuffre: she claimed that at the age of 17 she was forced to have sex with him. Andrew faced a court summons, during which he would have to testify under oath. To avoid questioning, he agreed to pay Roberts Giuffre £12 million.

Due to the scandal, the prince was removed from his duties as a senior member of the royal family and later stripped of most of his titles and honors. Before the release of Roberts Giuffre's memoirs, the prince voluntarily relinquished the title of duke. After the publication of Epstein's correspondence, Andrew was arrested.
