High consumption of butter increases the risk of deadly diseases.

Frequent consumption of butter increases the risk of developing deadly diseases. This is reported by the British publication Mirror citing scientists.

Experts analyzed data from over 220,000 adults who were observed for 30–50 years. The results showed that butter increases the risk of death.

"During this period, there were 50,932 recorded deaths in the group, of which 12,241 were from cancer and 11,240 were from cardiovascular diseases," the publication notes.

Moreover, the risk of death from any cause was 15 percent higher among those in the group with the highest butter consumption. People from this group also died from cancer 12 percent more often than others.

According to scientists, higher butter consumption was associated with increased mortality, while higher consumption of vegetable oils was linked to lower mortality.

"Replacing butter with vegetable oils can significantly reduce the risk of premature death," the scientists concluded.
