Therapist: the age of onset of old age is constantly shifting.
According to therapist Pavel Vorobyov, formally, old age begins at 60, but in reality, it can be younger, as diseases associated with aging often appear much earlier. For example, cardiopathies can occur in 45-year-olds, and diabetes can even affect young people.
At the same time, the age of onset of old age is constantly increasing, noted Vorobyov. The main reasons for this, the doctor stated, are the advancement of medicine, the emergence of new treatment methods, and the disappearance of severe infections. "At 60 today, some look as they did at 40 years old. At 75-80, many work effectively and live normally," the doctor believes.
The specialist added that the main criterion for old age becomes a personal assessment of one's well-being and age.
