An electronic smoking device caught fire on board a Virgin Australia flight.

The crew of a Virgin Australia flight declared a state of emergency due to a fire in the cabin — a passenger's electronic smoking device caught fire. This was reported by the portal Simple Flying.

The incident occurred on March 15 on a flight from Brisbane to Melbourne, Australia. As the aircraft was approaching its destination airport, panic broke out on board due to the burning vape. Flight attendants quickly responded to the situation and extinguished the fire.

It is clarified that the aircraft landed safely at the airport. As a precaution, emergency services met the Boeing 737-800 upon landing. There were no injuries.
