Smartphones can negatively affect health and cause sleep loss.
Experts from BGR have listed the risks that may be associated with smartphone use. The material was published on the media's website.
First of all, they noted that excessive use of the gadget can lead to decreased attention span, especially among young people, and loss of sleep. Additionally, time spent in front of the phone screen can cause eye and neck strain. "The main thing is to use the smartphone in moderation. Experts recommend no more than two hours a day," the authors noted.
Another common risk is related to fraud — for example, involving SIM cards. Journalists explained that criminals can trick telecom operators into transferring the victim's number to another SIM card, gaining access to their banking apps and social media.
The article also states that charging smartphones at public charging stations and connecting to open Wi-Fi networks is not very safe. Experts recommended carrying your own power adapter and frequently updating the device’s firmware by installing security patches.
BGR journalists concluded that phones are carriers of viruses and germs. In this regard, they advised cleaning the device at least once a day — using a disinfectant and a cloth.
