"It's great that the main subject of criticism directed at me has become my eyes, which I cannot control."
The world's most popular video blogger MrBeast responded to a viral comment about his "never smiling" eyes. The 27-year-old American YouTuber admitted on X (formerly Twitter) that he has heard this criticism before and explained the "strangeness" by saying that he is almost blind in his right eye.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson (37), gained fame on the YouTube platform through extreme challenges and charitable initiatives. His main channel currently has 459 million subscribers.
Combined with additional channels where he posts let's plays, reactions, and charitable content, the content creator has an audience of over 500 million people, making him the most popular YouTuber in the world.
The comment from user vittorio about Donaldson's eyes was made in response to a tweet about the YouTuber's new record of 1 billion unique viewers in a month. The post included a photo of the smiling blogger, from which the critic separately cut out the eyes, noting that they "never smile."
"It's great that the main subject of criticism directed at me has become my eyes, which I cannot control. I am almost blind in my right eye. They look strange because I have to squint with my right eye even with contact lenses. I can't do anything about it," MrBeast wrote in response.
At the time of this publication, the original post by vittorio had gathered 5 million views, while MrBeast's response had around 2 million.
