Candidate of Medical Sciences Andrey Tarasov stated that including fatty fish in the diet will help cope with vitamin D deficiency at the end of winter.
The scientist explained that it is especially during winter and early spring that the body acutely feels the lack of the vitamin responsible for the bone and immune systems. Its deficiency can weaken protection against viruses and bacteria, as well as lead to anxiety and depression. According to Tarasov, replenishing the supply can be achieved by adding one affordable product to the diet — fatty fish. Tarasov advised paying attention to salmon and tuna, but noted that there is also a more budget-friendly option — herring or sprat, which also contain sufficient vitamin D.
At the same time, the specialist warned against self-administering medical preparations without consulting a doctor. Instead, he recommends adjusting the diet.
